Cantiere Corpo Luogo was founded in 2009 thanks to the collaboration of Andrea Penzo and Cristina Fiore. Under the name Cantiere, the artist duo gives life to contemporary art curatorial projects and residencies. In addition, their publications are utilised as a nodal research point, capable of transforming the art in the area.
In the first four years of activity, Cantiere focused its objectives on the Venetian mainland. The duo not only revitalised projects in the Mestre area, but also organised and attended residences, exhibitions and activities abroad in Czech Republic, Germany and Portugal.
Throughout these first years, they also carried out joint projects such as il Parco del Contemporaneo in 2012 and contemporary art exhibitions such as Contro Zona in 2013.
By 2014, Murano - the Italian hub of glass working - starts to enter into the circuit of Cantiere. Courses and workshops in visual art and glass working begin to take place at the Cantiere’s current studio space in Fondamenta San Mattia, Murano.
