RESIDENCY in Murano Island
MURANO ISLAND
The experiences we offer are closely related to the density and the identity of the places that house them. In this sense, the island of Murano is representative of a territory - the lagoon of Venice – full of incomparable features not found in any other place in the world. All that is associated with Venice also belongs to Murano: the absence of roads and cars are replaced by boats, docks and canals. Here, however, the slow rhythm of an island without traffic is contrasted by the spirit of the glass production. The constant humming of the furnaces and the masters taming the fire are key elements of this reality.
Our goal in proposing a residence on the island of Murano is twofold. In one way, we want to make sure that the artists from Italy and abroad can experience something out of the ordinary by capturing the rhythms and lifestyle of Murano. On the other hand, the artists can breathe a new energy into the island, review the results and thus have a new understanding and depth. The extraordinary experiences that they bring are motivations for evolution and transformation in our production capacity. We reflected a lot about what it meant to create a place conducive to the creative process. Through our activities, dialogues with artists, and the observation of their work we are able to specify guidelines that can reveal possible evolutions.
During the residency the artist has the possibility to meet other venetian artists and curatores, in order to take part in other projects.
Murano is accessible by vaporetto and is 10-15 minutes from Venice.
THE RESIDENCY SPACE
The headquarters and residency space consist of +/- 220m2. One part is Penzo+Fiore’s personal studio, an other one is the residents’ available studio and laboratory space for creating glass works and on open living space.
RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The total fee per person, per 1 weeks (minimum stay) is 300 euro
The fee includes:
- a shared living space of 100m2 with bathroom, kitchenette and work space. There isn't an accomodation, will be offered help in finding affordable one
- breakfast (organic) and possibility to use the kitchenette to to prepare/share meals
- glass working room comprehensive of gas and glass (3 hours per day witout additional costs, only for people with glass working experiences or artists that frequented our basic cours)
- a critical text about the artist’s work written by Penzo+Fiore
- access to Cantiere Corpo Luogo’s artist network
- 30% discount on Cantiere Corpo Luogo’s courses and workshops
- internet connection
- Venice Card (card for public transport by water, which allows you to purchase tickets and season tickets at the same price of the residents in Venice. The card costs 50.00 euros, which will be covered by the association. A ticket for the vaporetto, with this card , cost 1.50 instead of 7.50

You can choose additional activities (with 30-50% of discount):
- course of lampworking glass (full price 600 euro per 20 hours)
- use of torch and glass (additional hours, full price 12,00 euro per hour)
